Journei Oliver has the life that most woman dream of having. She has a loving husband and two beautiful children, a gorgeous home, and a lucrative career as a real-estate agent. She has never had anything to complain about until one day she wakes up and realizes that her husband nor her children appreciate her. She feels invisible in life, in her career and even in her own home.
She goes through all types of feelings and scenarios when she discovers what her life has become but settles on trying to put her marriage back together and build a better relationship with her children until a surprise visit to her husband’s job reveals a huge secret that is enough to tear any marriage apart.
In the midst of Journei’s pain a chance meeting with Elijah Carter has her torn between the man she has loved and built a life with for the past eighteen years and a man who awakens feelings deep within her soul that she never knew existed.
Journei’s feelings and new found relationship with Elijah begin to consume her every thought. He seems to be the only person that really sees her. Will she give into the possibilities of what could be if they are together or will she go with her faith and realize that ‘what therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder?’

This story opens up with what can probably be a situation that occurs in every household at some point and time in every relationship that has been ongoing for longer than 10 years. The main character, Journei finds herself at home in bed alone at 11 pm at night wondering where her husband is. She is a working mom, the chauffeur, cook, maid, and everything else in between to her teenage children, Khiry and Koyia and her equally attention-deficit husband, Kyle. She wakes up 18 years later and finds that everyone else's needs eclipse the very basic needs and desires that she has for herself. In every aspect of her life, someone else comes first and then whatever energy she has left over she then applies it albeit half-heartedly to the things she needs to accomplish. What could only be called the worst day of her life she awakens to a bratty teenage son who has more lip than a little bit(quite frankly I would have knocked him and that sister of his into another galaxy but that's just me LOL). She is running late and trying to determine what is it that she is doing or has done wrong to cause her husband and children to take her kindness for weakness and basically treat her as an insignificant invisible being. Just when she thinks things can't get any worse she looks up while driving to a showing and discovers her husband in plain sight in a passionate embrace with another woman. To add insult to injury the woman is the exact opposite of everything that she is. Journei is devastated, to say the least, and while driving she crashes into the back of another driver. This is the meeting that ultimately helps to change the trajectory of her story. Elijah aka Eli is a tall glass of chocolate milk. He is handsome, courteous and struck by the overwhelming beauty that is before him. He is able to see that she is going through something that has left her discombobulated and confused but being the gentleman that he is he quickly steps forward and takes charge of the situation. Now normally I'm not one of those that EVER condones infidelity in marriage and I definitely don't get down with the tit for tat in a relationship but it was incredibly hard for me to drum up any sympathy in me for Journei's husband and even her kids. They were awful, to say the least. Her children were self-absorbed and so unappreciative that it was not even funny. Her husband was not only a cheat but he all but regulated Journei to the position that one would assign to their mother. He no longer cherished the woman who carried and gave birth to his two prized possessions. He sought solace and comfort in the arms of another woman so with all of that being said I can't blame Journei for her actions. CiCi, Journei's best friend is a character. She brought the funny and due to her own personal situation and turmoil some tears were shed for her as well. I would like to have seen more about CiCi. I think we only got a mere glimpse of what she is going through and for her to be Journie's best friend we needed a little bit more to create a more detailed characterization of who she is as a friend, woman, and mother. We get the opportunity to learn about her son but we never actually get the chance to meet him. Being that CiCi and Journei are best friends I would think that we would have at least seen Curtis, Jr once in the story. Andrew & Katrina were foolish as all get out and then some. Katrina being in the relationship with Andrew for 7 years all while taking him back time after time when she caught him cheating was frustrating, to say the least. It didn't matter that we didn't actually see those events transpire in the book, the fact that Ms. Welch hinted about the numerous bouts of cheating was enough for me. Then this clown, Andrew wanted to get mad when she decided she had enough?? REALLY!?!?!?!? Katrina disappointed me when she attempted to bring Elijah in the middle of their foolishness. The fact that Andrew wasn't any good didn't warrant her trying to use Elijah as her source of revenge to get back at Andrew. The events that took place with her when she left out of the shopping mall came out of left field it would seem and I'm curious to know who and what perpetrated this attack. Overall this is a really good book. There were only a few issues that left me needing more in the way of development as far as the characters and the plot but for the most part, the book was a great read from start to finish. I honestly can't wait to see what happens in part 2. Oh and I loved seeing the little surprise pop in from 2 of our favorite characters from Ms. Elle Welch's previous series. Again LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book and can't wait for part 2 to come out!! Kudos Ms. Welch.

These ungrateful children and husband of hers.
He can only assume denie denie denie...
He been doing s&#% so she better not tell on herself.
My birthday the one day u can't forget. Forget any other day...
Wassup up wit CiCi???
Im so glad Journei realized that her family was taking her for granted & did something for herself. I can't wait till we find out what Curtis Sr wants CiCi to do; who beat Trina's ass; and will Andrew realize Trina lied on Eli? Damn can't wait till book 2!!!
Journei is a mom and wife. She caters to her family, forgetting that she is a woman first. Her children are typical teens while her husband is inconsistent. She has to find herself before she looses who she was.
Great read on how what one won't do another will.I sympathize with Journei, she just wants to love and attention from her family that she isint getting..Always forgotten and disrespected.I look forward to part two of this.So much drama and so many unanswered questions with Journei and the other characters.I want more!
Really Elle? So you just gone leave me hanging at the edge of the cliff like that? Why didn't you just push me over? Journei has really been through it. She really needs to put her foot in Kyle and those kids busts. I can't believe that they are that selfish. Along comes Eli and changes her whole outlook on life. I don't usually condone cheating, but in this case she deserves some happiness for herself. Let's see where this goes. #UIP
Okay, this book was.... WOW!!! I can't help but to think Journei played herself. Things aren't what they seem. What I've learned from reading Elle's books in the past is she's a master of deception. She'll have everyone thinking one thing and it's something totally different going on. People are so quick to blame or accuse someone of wrong doing and in this case,it's Kyle, but they don't know the whole story. Journei doesn't know the whole story and Kyle surely isn't helping his case by being inattentive. Still, she should have talked to him instead of doing what she did. Things are about to get SUPER messy now, but she brought it on herself. She loves her husband, but she screwed up. Elijah seems like a good guy, but I can tell that he is starting to really feel Journei and in the end, he'll be the one left out in the cold. Too bad, he shouldn't have gotten involved. Things are about to be revealed and Journei isn't going to like it because she'll find out that CiCi isn't the friend that she thinks she is. I can't wait for part two!
A new character to love. Love how your books reference our home I get a great visual for where they are since I recognize the streets and towns. I'll wait patiently for the sequel
